The lifestory of Bivek Chaudhary
Bivek and his sister Manisha, who also live in Sundarijal, comes from a very poor background. They are six member in their family, being them the youngest ones. Their mother is a housewife and their father works in a construction site. Because of his wage it was impossible for the parents to even cover the basic needs of their kids. The one room rented house were they lived and shared was made from mud, so finally Bivek and his sister decide to go to the streets and live there.
While sleeping on the street they used sacks and torn blankets to cover their body and warm up a little bit during cold nights. As street children do, they used to beg food and clothes, but life in the streets is not easy and every now and then they were involved in problems with other street children who were trying to steel the money, food and clothes they collected during the day, and because the other children were bigger and stronger than then, they were not able to defend themselves or their few possessions.
After some time Bivek start hanging out with other street children who were drug addicts, so they encourage him to try some drugs. That's how this little boy started to sniff glue and smoke cigarettes.
After knowing the situation of both Bivek and Manisha, they were brought to Sundarijal Children’s’ Home. Now they are very happy to be here, were they can have fun with other children, have some nice food, a warm and comfy bed and also go to school, were both of them are in Nursery class.
Bivek has stop all his bad habits of taking drugs, thanks to a rehab that Sundarijal Children's Home put him in before starting his new life.
This handsome boy is 14 years old now, and has been in the home for five years. Right now he is going through class 6. He told us his favorites subjects are math, science and social.
But school is just a part of his life, because what Bivek really loves is arts, he has a natural talent for painting and drawing. If you give him some color pencils and paper he can stayed hours having fun. He also likes board games as chess or ludo, and be careful because he is a good player.
